TEHRAN (IQNA) – Palestinians have for the first launched a radio network broadcasting programs in Hebrew and English.

Al-Quds 24 Radio

The radio, named Al-Quds 24, is aimed shedding light on the realities of the developments in Palestinian lands and the Zionist regime’s aggression, provocations and attempts to Judaize Jerusalem al-Quds.

Based in Ramallah, the West Bank, the radio station began its broadcasting three months ago, according to Al-Quds.co.uk website.

Rima Mustafa, newscaster at the network, says those in occupied territories need more sources of news and have welcomed the launched of the radio.

Mai Abu Assab, its chief editor, says the world must understand the reality in occupied Palestine.

“We want to fill the void in coverage on what is happening in Jerusalem and in marginalized areas,” Abu Assab told AFP, adding that in Jerusalem al-Quds, there is “ethnic cleansing and forced expulsions of Palestinians from their homes but the world is turning a deaf ear”.

With just six full-time journalists and hours of air time to fill, Al-Quds 24 relies on long stretches of musical programming.

Radio Huna Al-Quds, launched in the mid-1930s in British-mandated Palestine, also sought to cater to Jews through Hebrew and English news broadcasts, in addition to Arabic.

But it was closed following the Zionist regime’s occupation of Palestine in 1948.
